Thursday, 11 October 2007 Y 14:53 Our wine cellar has no wine, just floors grown cold in Minnesota winter. Cold floors where naked feet dance, limbs intertwine, hidden from prying eyes and eyebrows raised in scrutiny. Here lips touch in an innocent but guilty life, beginning but dying to the sounds of Miles Davis slowly seeping through the cracks in the door, through the chatter of those who have lived no more but in this moment lie resurrected. Here our young lovers grasp for something: the heat of each other's body, intoxication in a world devoid of drunkenness. ___________________________________________________________________ Sam's got a new blog url. Some cranky yanky thing. Link? Link. Someday. ___________________________________________________________________ ELDDS cancelled today. Upset? Upset. Definitely. Like hello - no ELDDS for the entire month and now after exams, still no ELDDS?! That's ridiculous. Band started on Monday after the last Physics paper - hello? And ELDDS has a play coming up in 3 weeks, while Band has a performance in I-don't-give-a-damn how many weeks?___________________________________________________________________ Biased, biased, biased, biased. Read a blog dissing ELDDS yesterday. Complete idiots. But seriously speaking, reading that made me rather reflective of the system and of how ELDDS is governed. We're ill-disciplined, basically. But the point of ELDDS is not to run it like some crappy army camp. Its all about self-disciplined, being an actress, being a debater, a writer, even a backstage crew member. Its the self-discipline - self - that needs to control what we do and think. Your seniors don't really want to run you, they want you to run yourself. We've all heard Mr M saying that actors are people who have fun, and know when to get damn serious. They joke about stuff, but they get things done. ELDDS? Well, we joke. And when its time to get serious, most generally get a little serious, and others just slack the time away. But the debaters are the best - they are the ones who are really really independent. At least the debaters came up with 3 seperate scripts in one hour. The dramatists? Rubbish. Take BlackBox for example - everyone left after the last play, even before the curtains closed. Hello?! What about clearing up? Its BlackBox, its an entire ELDDS production, not a performance by the committee! Do they know? No. Honestly, I love ELDDS, but this attitude is just crap. ___________________________________________________________________ And yes, the promised photo of Mr Choy's amazing sense of humour. See that? That apostrophe between the "t" and the "s"? Precisely. An apostrophe. Meaning: The correct form of English. Mr Choy actually bothered to annotate my work in the proper form of English. I'm impressed. Part One of notes: Part 2 of notes: mainly my corrections, really. See? Because Mr Choy was extremely conscientious and careful in marking, and actually writing down the intricate steps of the solution to the question, I was extremely conscientious and careful in evaluating the steps and doing corrections too! It works. Conscientious marking results in evoking emotions of gratitude, and the student feels touched by the effort that has been put into marking - not just one little tick, and leaves a good impression, hence indirectly motivational for the student to work harder to understand concepts, so that her poor teacher doesn't have to waste time on marking one book, since the teacher probably has others. Yes, yes, yes, Mr Choy has definitely been favourited for this, and he joins the long list of other teachers. ___________________________________________________________________ Oh-ho, the favourited in Crescent, the likes of Mr Siow, Mrs Yip, Mrs Lau, Mrs Low, Ms Li, Mdm Lim, Ms Tan, Mr Keong, Mr M..? And the new addition of Mr Choy. Conscientious people, yes. Amusing people, yes. Passionate people, yes. Generally, socially, accepted around the cohort, yes. Weird and interesting, yes. Yupp, the favourited few of Crescent. And the other long list of liked teachers. Oh-ho, the social segregation of the past Crescent teachers. Or rather, of my Crescent teachers past and present. I'll drag more Crescent teachers to the favourited list. Lets see. My favourited list has more Primary school teachers than Secondary school teachers. Maybe because I spent 6 years in that green school on the green hill. ___________________________________________________________________ Mrs Lee announced her being posted to St. Andrews Junior College today. But 3C3 was already buzzing with that news in the morning when I came in at 710. Cherlyn was screaming that the news was in the chinese newspapers. And she ran up to me, screaming, "PONG, ITS TRUE ITS TRUE!" Well, well. What can I say? Of course..? The thing that I found really sad was that Mrs Lee was about to announce her leaving Crescent, and the students who had to see the various people were walking around, and they were leaving when she was talking about her leaving, so it seemed like a very bad pun to me, of The Leaving. The good thing was that even though these people were in different areas and all, they still heard the news and express their shock at it. So that was the bit which I felt quite warmed by - that even though they're way out physically, they're still interested in the going-ons and all. ___________________________________________________________________ Flag-raising today sucked, according to Choo. And her juniors were walking to the canteen to get scolded. Mr Koh was coughing badly during National Anthem. Mr Koh is favourited, except that he's not favourited under teachers, since he's not a teacher anyway. But Mr Koh is rather passionate about the students, and he's a very supportive Vice-Principal. Like hello - which VP is supportive enough to perform for his students for Youth Day? And he was the only one who stayed back after the Hockey finals to take photos with the team? And who stayed back after some NP thing according to Victoria? And hours before ELDDS went for SYF, Mr Koh actually came in to watch and comment. And he actually apologised for not being able to go support us because he had some parents to meet. I wasn't even expecting any teacher except Mr M and Ms Audrey Neo to watch us, not to say go with us to support us. And this guy was apologising for not being able to do what nobody expected him to do?! I'll be very very sad to see Mr Koh go. ___________________________________________________________________ |
